Chairmans report 2024-25.
This year has been good with membership staying constant at the high thirties including 4 juniors last year weather was poor with constant rain or high winds, let us hope for an improvement this year.
We have lost some members and gained a few more I welcome all our new members and hope you are enjoying our facilities.
The mower has given us problems late last year it is the first time it has let us down since it was bought in December 2017 so I don’t think we can complain, we have now sourced a mechanic which is local who has sorted out the problems, we have also had the blades re-sharpened which needed doing badly, the costs have been significant and Alan will bring you all up to speed on those
We still have a few problems with ignorant dog walkers who will not clean up after their animals.
The field was weed killed and fed in May and will be done again this year, it does make a difference.
We do have a problem with moles which Alan has worked hard to eradicate (think the total he has caught to date is 14) but they still come back, Jon Hough has been in touch with a mole catcher early this month who has laid 7 traps with as yet no success but there has not been any activity either so what is going on is a mystery.
We have again been invited to participate in the Mawdesley Classic car show on Monday 26th May this now seems to be a permanent fixture, and I personally think it is a good pr exercise for the club. It seems to be enjoyed by both participants and spectators thanks to all that flew and Alan for his commentary.
The club clothing seems to be popular with many members proudly wearing them the quality and cost is excellent with a full range from polo shirts to rugby shirts and to warm hoodies and caps thanks to Keith for sorting out the last order in December, if anybody is interested please let us know as I am sure we will be putting in another order in the future.
I now wish to thank all those who have carried out Stirling work during 2024, Keith as secretary and, Alan for all his continuous work as treasurer and membership secretary , Stuart as our BMFA representative Dave as our Safety Officer, Adam who joined us on the committee this year has been invaluable as our contact to the BMFA he has managed to obtain funding for our application for our extended hours and for repairs to our mower and also for his work on the website, thanks to all committee members for their support, Chris Dave and other members who have cut the approach road and strimmed the undergrowth so the whole site looks tidy and well kept, the work parties who turned up on my request a couple of times to repair the access road Finally I would thank all the members for their continuous support, camaraderie and frivolity and let’s hope for a super 2025 with light rain and even lighter winds
Evan
