Mawdesley Car Show
Mereside Model Club has been giving displays at the Mawdesley Car show (held at Mawdesley Cricket Club) for the last few years. This year (2025) the weather was was very windy and a number of showers were around during the day, therefore the flying display was rather limited as only the best flyers could take their planes up. However, although the 2024 show was postponed due to bad weather until the 28th of July. The weather on the 28th was fantastic. We set up our stand on a cloudless sky and by 10 o'clock the crowds started to gather along with their vintage cars. The wind was non-existent and stayed that way all day,in fact the weather could not have been better. For a car show, I was surprised at the amount of interest in our stand, although we did have a very good selection of models on display. There were also a number of inquiries on how to get involved in model flying, specifically with younger people, however, I think this was prompted by seeing Lucas flying his Edge 540.There were two demonstration flights, first late morning and the second early afternoon. Both times Alan was giving running commentary on the cricket clubs PA system, which (in my opinion) needs to be improved a little bit (the PA not Alan).Lucas had a fantastic flight, although his Edge 540 seemed to be as big as he is. Below are some photos from the last three years, and by the weather you can tell which year is which. Let's look forward to the next Mawdesley Car Show.
